Tire Care

Tires are one of the most important components of your vehicle. Without properly functioning tires, your vehicle is going nowhere. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the tires you do have are functioning properly.

Maintaining the health of your vehicle’s tires is a constant necessity. Unfortunately, tires eventually wear out, even for the most proactive and cautious of drivers. That is why it is important to carefully look for signs that your tires need to be replaced. The following signs will give you a better idea of the health of your vehicle’s tires.
The Penny Test
Ah, the penny test—never has there been such a simple, yet effective way to check the health of your tires. More specifically, the penny test checks for the tread depth of your tires. Place a penny into the tread of your tires upside down with Honest Abe Lincoln facing you. If you can still see the top of Lincoln’s head, then the time has come to replace your tire.
Tread Wear Bars
An even simpler way to check the health of your tires is by inspecting the tread wear bars on the tires themselves. Standard on nearly every tire, these small bars indicate when it is time to replace your tires when they become level with the tread of the tire itself.
Excessive Vibrations
You may not even have to inspect the tires themselves to determine their health. Another sure sign that your tires need to be replaced is excessive vibration while driving. If you are picking up those bad vibrations, it is time to pick up some brand new tires.
